All season long there has been talk from a lot of journalists and pundits about the world rankings. How can a player be number one when they haven't won a major? This has been the main question and it's normally been asked from the other side of the pond. It is a fair question as the four majors carry all the weight and the prestige in the game. However when a player has 14 top 10 finishes from 19 starts on American soil this year then it becomes quite obvious how that player can be number one.
Luke Donald has been the mdel professional all season and gets on with his business without any fanfair around him. Even though he is world number one, he still manages to sneak up the leaderboards of competitons almost under the radar. This is due to his modesty in part and is summed up after his most recent win at The Disney Classic when he said "All credit goes to Pat Goss (his coach) and he good people I have around me".
He has now amassed £4.19 million on the PGA our this year and £3.34 million on the European tour. With only a few events left on the calendar he now looks odds on to become the first player in history to get the number one in the money list on both tours. If there was ever a doubt about Luke Donald being number 1 in the world then surely it has gone after that achievement
